Military Veteran Programs
We are honored to be able to share our public lands, natural treasures and wilderness areas through our company. We are grateful for our freedoms and the sacrifice men, women, and families have made to protect our country and lands. As a family operated outfitter, we have the opportunity to serve our core values by giving back. Time spent in nature and on rivers is restorative to the spirit and connects us with each other and our selves. PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, and various physical-abilities are day to day challenges many Veterans must brave. Every year we look to engage and work with different organizations committed to serving Veterans and their families. The river is one of the most effective means of transport to bring those with varying abilities into the wilderness. While most available Veteran programs offer 1 or 2 day outings, our week long wilderness river trips offer an immersion in nature that provides the time and setting to connect, heal, share the campfire, and find solace and adventure in the Great Outdoors. We are guides and outfitters who want to share the power of wilderness not facilitators or therapists. Working with unique professional organizations to develop programs that are healthy, safe, and rewarding is an important goal and opportunity for SOAR Northwest. Please contact us with resources and ideas.

In August of 2017 we had the opportunity to work with the Sierra Club Military Outdoors Program. SOAR NW took 8 Military Veterans on a 6 day / 5 night trip down the ‘River of No Return’ Main Salmon, Idaho. Through a Crowdwise funding campaign initiative to ‘sponsor a vet’, which was shared with patrons of SOAR NW, we raised $4625.00 to help offset the discounted trip cost. Thank you to everyone who supported the cause.
